Jerry Seinfeld b. 1954

The year 1989 saw the debut of the television series Seinfeld, which ranks as one of the most popular and successful sitcoms in American TV. Seinfeld got his start in 1976 performing at a New York City open mic night and in the early 1980s he honed his observational style of comedy - which muses on aspects of daily life - during repeated appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Late Night with David Letterman. Seinfeld wrote Seinlanguage, a New York Times bestseller in 1993 and in 2008 he co-wrote, co-produced, and starred in the Golden Globe-nominated animated film Bee Movie.
