Lauren Bacall b. 1924

Lauren Bacall was only twenty when she appeared in her first film, To Have and Have Not (1944). She is widely known as a film noir leading lady, having starred in films such as The Big Sleep (1946). Also a comedian, Bacall played the leading role in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and Designing Woman (1957). She often starred opposite Humphrey Bogart, whom she later married. She won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996). Bacall received the Kennedy Center Honors in 1997 and the first Katharine Hepburn Medal in 2006.
