Will Eisner's name is synonymous with comic-book art and graphic novels. Wizard magazine named him "the most influential comic artist of all time," and the writer Michael Chabon based the novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay on the milestones of American comic book history that passed through Eisner's studio. In 1936, while still a teenager, Eisner co-founded the Eisner & Iger Studio, which provided material to publishers in the very early years of the comic-book industry. Eisner created Sheena, Queen of the Jungle and introduced readers to the Spirit, an urban crime fighter whose daring deeds were exceptionally popular throughout the 1940s.
