Famous for his designer jeans and signature fragrances, fashion designer Calvin Klein was born in the Bronx to Jewish-Hungarian immigrant parents and raised in the Jewish immigrant community there. After attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, he spent several years as an apprentice and opened his first company in 1968. Soon, the Calvin Klein brand included denim jeans, sportswear, accessories, and the fragrances Obsession, Eternity, and Escape. Klein became the youngest designer ever to win the prestigious Coty Award three times in a row, from 1973 to 1975, and he received the Council of Fashion Designers of America Award in 1982, 1983, and 1986.
